Peniophora limitata

Post by Steve » Thu Apr 07, 2016 6:41 am

Found in a Sheffield woodland on a broadleaf log. The dark line around the margin and the purplish colour suggested Peniophora limitata. Microscopy of tthe spores (allantoid, 8-11 x 2.5-3) and the cystidia (8-9 across and around 55 long), as well as the basidia (6 wide with sterigmata approx 5 long) all fitted OK.
ID from Fungi of Switzerland Vol. 2.
