Critter

Post by Chris Johnson » Fri Sep 11, 2015 9:20 pm

Having just brought the microscopes out of store after 3 months under wraps, I was working on a Scutellinia when this critter appeared.

I didn't think to measure it before messing with the size but would suggest about 100 µm, give or take not very much.

It would seem reasonable to think other microscopists have come across them ... a name would be welcome.

Regards, Chris

Hi Chris,

Maybe it's the leg of a tiny hairy-footed mite. I think I can see the leg joints and they have these long hairs instead of feet.
An example of one:

Thanks Dave.

I hadn't thought of it being part of something larger, which makes sense as it lacks overall symmetry.

Cheers, Chris
