Moved to the ID requests forum. There might be a case for a new forum for Corticoids, or Brackets/Crust fungi for the less experienced people to understand. I know it's not scientific to lump them together, but then again mildews, smuts and rusts are not related..
It's always a job to know how many subforums to have. We could have one for boletes, for example or zygomycetes. I don't know, do you guys think we should have any more subforums, and what should they be?

I think there is a reasonable argument for creating subfora for large groups and composites such as 'dung fungi' where the species are numbered in hundreds. I would be very wary of creating subfora for genera as it would soon get out of hand.

I think the case for corticoids is stronger than for dung fungi, which could be ascos, agarics, other basidios or zygomycetes and probably a whole lot more. If we went down the substrate route, we could open a can of worms (and probably find fungi growing on and in the worms! )

We also have a miscellaneous substrates forum, which perhaps should be scrapped and we commit to fungi groups (as we humans perceive them.)
Another option would be a wholly scientific approach and use phylum, class etc.

May be better to have a "dung fungi thread" - I think there was one on WAB :?

Ok, I've created a "crust and bracket fungi" forum. This isn't fixed in stone, so feel free to make further suggestions!

Can you move my "Pink, crusty lichen?" Forum to the crust and bracket forum? And my Blushing Bracket forum too?
