"HOW TO" Guide to Uploading & Posting Images (Information)

Post by admin » Wed May 13, 2015 9:30 am

At the bottom of your post, there is a blue area with two tabs; options and attachments. If you click attachments, then add files, it will change to show you the uploaded file/s. You then click "place inline! at the point you want to insert it.

Note that there is a file size limit of 400KB. You can reduce the file size by using the export feature in most graphics programs like Photoshop or Picasa. Or you can use the free http://www.getpaint.net/index.html - and choose to resize the image to around 1200 x 800, then save as jpg with a quality of around 70-80.

UPDATE: If you choose "inline" you will get a bigger thumbnail with a single column (ie one image wide)
If you don't use "inline" - it will display in a grid, ie like a gallery.

For single images, I would recommend inline. For multiple images, I would not put inline, as it looks better as a grid. Use comments to describe each image.

For anyone still unsure how to add and position images within their posts, my usual method is: -

1 - Write the text of your post.

2 - Click on the blue Attachments tab, located below the text box.

3 - Click on the Add Files tab which then appears.

4 - When you click on the Add Files tab, a window opens allowing you to navigate to the chosen image that you wish to upload from your computer. (Don't forget that the image file-size must be less than 400KB)

5 - Double click on the file-name of the image that you wish to upload.
(The navigation window closes, and the filename of your chosen image now appears in the Add Files list, below the text box.

6 - Write any required comment (for example, the name of the Image) in the File Comment box.

7 - If you are adding more than one image, then repeat steps 3 to 6.

8 - Once you have all required images uploaded to the Add Files list, then place the mouse cursor within the body text of your post, at the position where you want the first image to be located. (NB: This should always be at the start of a new line within your post).

9 [optional] - If you want a custom layout, you can use this method to get fine control over positioning of photos. In most cases, it isn't necessary. When your cursor is in the position that you want the image to appear, click on the Place Inline tab associated with the specific image.
NB: When you upload several images to the Add Files list, the first image uploaded will be at the Bottom of the list, and the last image uploaded will be at the Top of the list. ;)

10 - You will now see that the details for the image concerned have appeared in the body text of your post.
You can check that the image is where you want it by clicking on the Preview tab. (Image is then shown as a thumbmail in the post).

11 - Repeat steps 8 & 9 for each image you've added to the Add Files list, and when you are happy that everything is to your liking, click Submit.

Regards,
Mike.

Reason: To mention that inline attachments are for custom layouts
Common sense is not so common.

Additional Information: -

Once you are satisfied that all your required images are correctly uploaded, you have the option to place each image at a specific location within the post, (By using the "Place inline" procedure as explained above).

Or, you now have the simpler option of just having all the images together, at the very end of the post.
If you just want all your images to appear together, at the end of your post, you need do nothing, (i.e. you don't need to use the "Place inline" procedure).

By default, unless the "Place inline" procedure is used, Images will appear (in grid format) at the very end of a post. when you click "Submit" (and also when you click to "Preview" the post).

Regards,
Mike.
