I.D please
I.D please
Hi everyone,
I am hoping someone can help with this, this has popped up in my garden having never been there before, I have never seen it before my guess is the thrushes planted it for me (possibly a payment for the all the strawberrys they've been dining on). Anyway, I am a bit late getting a photo and the petals have fallen off, the flowers are bright lemon yellow and so are the berries to start with but now turning red, stems a pinkish color.
It's a beautiful looking plant and would love to no what it is so I can plant more and find out what environment it prefers, any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance

Re: I.D please
Hi, I think iv got it, Hypericum of some sort? It just looks different to any pics I can find, but that's what I'm thinking so far. Just hope somebody else can be more certain.
Many thanks,
Paul

Re: I.D please
Hi many thanks, that might explain things then, as the leaves are much large and the fruits are much smaller than any pictures I can find.
Thank you again

Re: I.D please
More than likely, I have rust all over my garden but have never identified it, I don't have a microscope ( at least not a proper one) so a bit out of my depth, I will go and get some pics now and put them up. Should I post them here or the rusts thread?
Thanks
Paul
Thanks

Re: I.D please
Best to post on Rusts thread. I'm no expert but have interest in them. There are experts here but very often need microscope examination to id

Re: I.D please
If you have Rusts on other plants you need to try and identify plant first. That's good starting point but then...
Not so easy as some host plants have multiple Rusts and some Rusts have multiple hosts then maybe up to 5 stages of Rust on alternate hosts! But don't give up as sometimes host plant will give good idea of Rust. Only about 250 species of Rusts identified in UK (at the moment) - I am still learning!
