There's a good chance it's a Stobilurus. The type of cone (spruce or pine) it is growing on might help to identify which species. It looks like it may be a pine cone. If it is a pine cone then it could be tenacellus or stephanocystis (I think you would need to check the spore size to be completely s...

I think spumariodes would have a white hypothallus.

Have you checked the peridium for crystals?

Thanks Mark and Mike. Elaeomyxa cerifera was not a UK collection but it is found in Europe. Here's another stereo of the well known experimental organism Physarum polycephalum (although it is more often seen as a yellow plasmodium).
