I'm now reluctant to get involved in such a learned discussion, but the thread picture seems to me to show a smoother surface than Chris's Phellinus picture.

Looks like Phellinus pomaceus, not uncommon on old apple trees. Parasitic, but there's no point cutting off the fruit body. The organism within the tree remains unaffected. Just enjoy the new fruit the tree's giving!

The middle one might be Datriona mollis. THe Xylaria looks ok to me.

Doesn't G. confluens always have a very pruinose stipe? It may be me but the stipe does look rather pruinose. It would be useful to know what the pileipellis structure is. I don't think it's G. confluens as it is not fasciculate, and the gills are not crowded. . . . .Tephrocybe rancida . . . . seem...

No confidence in this, but I agree it looks like Gymnopus. Have you considered G. erythropus? Not like it usually looks, but they never are...
