The four pictures on this page are really excellent. John: I'm assuming the Dasyscyphus cerinus were tiny. Were you using the 'fancy pants' Canon macro lens? (The one that does true macro, 1-5x I think, rather than micro as per most so-called macro lenses.) Yes Leif, it's the 'fancy pants' lens whi...

The fells of the lake district are a taste of heaven. Your excellent images here Mike have reminded me of an area I have many fond memories of. I still view my Wainwright's with the same enthusiasm as I did back in the 70's :)

My last 3 finds of this species were on dead Hazel branches in Anston Stones Wood, possibly one of the darkest woods in Yorkshire. Absolutely typical of fungi. They always throw a large spanner in the works :D

Hi Mark

The difficulty with this species is when it dries. It is almost unrecognizable BUT reconstitutes itself again after rain. Here is an image of a 'wet' aged species. In good condition it can be very colourful, OK cardboard brown as in the second image :D

Re: Wild about Britain Fungi Encyclopedia

..and who is running it, should we trust it and will it be managed better than before? Hi Adam There's a post from Stuart explaining 'roughly' what happened and the possible future of the site. I wish the site well, but I have made it quite clear that I have no intention of doing any admin duties f...
