Re: Unknown slime mould

Unfortunately I will not see it mature as someone managed to find it and destroy them.
Possibly the same individual who decided to smash an artist bracket fungi I have been watching grow for the last three years.

Re: Unknown slime mould

Good call, I actually went back today as it's part of the patrol route I use in the woods I look after for the National Trust and developed they did.

Re: Initially thought Psathyella piluliformis gills wrong

Thanks, would not have found that, the spore print is listed as date-brown but the pint I have is more black or is this also age related?

Initially thought Psathyella piluliformis gills wrong

I Initially thought this was Psathyella piluliformis or multipedata but the gills are wrong as they are crowded rather than distant and the spore print I obtained appeared to be black rather than a purplish brown? I do not appear to find anything clustered that is similar. If it helps this was growi...

Unknown slime mould

I've found a couple of usual slime moulds before, Reticularia lycoperdon and Fuligo septica but this appears to be new to me.
Apart from the small blobs it has a creamy texture found on leaf litter, probably not the best descriptions but any ideas?

Root fungi similar to Daldinia concentrica but not that.

Found these today growing on the root of what appears to be a long fallen wild service tree (Sorbus torminalis) The initial appearance looks like a giant flattened Daldinia concentrica but on inspection from a small sample it certainly is not. Both fungi were about 15-20cm across with a hard solid c...

Calocera viscosa or Calocera glossoides?

During some wet weather today I found these little chaps on some very old deadwood. Based on what I can find in my books I'm wondering if this is Yellow Stagshorn Calocera viscosa or Calocera glossoides which seems more likely? There was quite a large group spread over. Re: Weekend fun some I think I know

I presume this would be more of a microscope task rather than a spore print? With the host for the Tremella which I completely missed it may possibly be Peniophora limitata as this was found around an Ash tree. Not sure how I would collect the spores, I do have an old microscope in the shed somewher...

Re: Weekend fun some I think I know

Thanks, after checking tonight the underside pores is light grey. Interesting how books show different examples, the Roger Phillips book looks nothing like the images I have but Collins book is closer. Goes to show it's always best to use more than one source for ID I would have never found this fro...
