Re: ID request

Agree with Lancashire Lad. The mycellium will still be present so you may see them again

Re: Kuehneola uredinis?

I've never seen the Rusts on Rubus flower buds. As you probably know there are 3 potential Rusts - K.uredinis, Phragmidium violaceum and P.bulbosum which may all be present at this time of the year. I'm not an expert on these but I would suggest it is a microscope job to be sure which.

Re: Sarcoscypha jurana

Thanks Andreas, Brian Douglas at Kew has directed us to info.
It looks like S.jurana only occurs on Lime wood (Tilia) but would need checking microscopically to be sure.

Re: Melanomma pulvis-pyrius?

Hello Andreas and Chris, Ruzenia spermoides - thanks your suggestion Andreas! Successfully found 'live' perithecia and able to extract 'jelly'. Microscope work by Emma Williams Glamorgan Fungus Group revealed asci with ascospores - hyaline. When stained with Melzer's showed up nicely. Ascospores all...

Melanomma pulvis-pyrius?

Help please! Found something that has been tentatively id'd as M.pulvis-pyius by members of Glamorgan Fungus Group but question regarding very open pores in stromata. USBx20 photos attached (apologies not good quality). Found in dense masses stromata less than 1mm on well rotted log in damp woodland...
