UK Fungi is a discussion forum dedicated to the identification, understanding and conservation of fungi in Britain. The fungi comprise a kingdom in their own right and there are believed to be more species of fungi than any other kingdom, except animals (of which 97% are invertebrates.) Sadly, in spite of this, funding for research and conservation of fungi is way below that of other groups, and there are very few professional mycologists, compared to say zoologists or botanists. Many of the UK's leading fungi experts participate in this forum; all on a voluntary basis, so please be grateful for help you receive when asking for an ID.
